Sacatara Canyon Wetlands Enhancement

In the summer of 2014, the Tejon Ranch Conservancy began its Sacatara wetlands enhancement project, a key piece of the Conservancy’s long-term riparian enhancement strategy. The plan is to see how excluding cattle from approximately 85 acres of upland and wetland pastures within the canyon will affect floral and faunal abundance and diversity over time. The hope is to promote greater abundance and diversity of native species in these critical habitats. Sacatara is particularly important in this effort as it is the largest wetland system on the Antelope Valley side of Tejon Ranch.
